The other day Dad casually mentioned that the 23rd of June was 50 years since he rode his first trial. 50 years! What a bloody achievement. And unlike every other thing that Dad does, he didn't post about it on here, so I am.His first trial was on the 23rd of June 1973 at 'Grants', run by the MCC Canberra. 50 years later, he rode his 561st trial on the 2nd of July 2023 at 'The Ranch' Bywong, run by the Trials Club of Canberra. Not only has Dad ridden 561 trials, but he has given so much back to the sport in every one of those 50 years. I can't name everything he's done but I will try! He has observed, officiated, organised, set sections, run officials seminars, set up, packed up, towed toilets, written newsletters, sent out entry forms (by post & email) and talked. Always plenty of talking! In fact, I think it's the talking to all the mates he's made at trials that he enjoys the most.To celebrate 50 years of Trevor Bennett in Trials, here is an extremely small selection of photos of Dad in his element, enjoying trials!
