Australia’s five Trial des Nations (TdN) competitors have all completed searching examinations in the final round of the 2023 FIM Trial World Championship in France, and will now turn their attention to the annual teams’ event this weekend (September 8-10).
With the majority of the sections plotted on a steep and rocky hillside, all the competitors had their work cut out for them in the world finale, and in Trial2 Women Lillie Yiatrou (Vertigo) and Kaitlyn Cummins (TRRS) finished with 10-11 and 12-12 scorecards respectively over the two days. Yiatrou finished the title in seventh.
In the huge 40-plus Trial2 field, Connor Hogan (GasGas) was the leading Australian, ahead of TRRS pair Kyle Middleton and Chris Bayles on day one and Bayles on day two. Reed sat out the second day to regroup ahead of the TdN.
Meanwhile, world champions were crowned in TrialGP (Toni Bou), Trial2 (Billy Green), Trial3 (George Hemingway), TrialGP Women (Emma Bristow) and Trial2 Women (Alycia Soyer).
