MA Survey - Update from the Motorcycling Australia Board

Posted 23rd Sep, 2016 | Matt Langtree

Thanks very much for the fantastic response  and sharing your opinions with us. Your messages came through loud and clear. With over 80% of you unhappy with the way the sport is run, it confirmed our opinion that we have plenty of work to do to get where we need to go.

Almost 95% of you want a better administration experience for licenses, entries and insurance, which is probably why 85% of you want State Service Offices with a consistent National system.

Most of you feel pretty happy with your Clubs’ service to you, which was great to hear but we want to help improve that as well. Opinions varied slightly on service from your State, with riders from Tassie happiest with their service with an overall satisfaction score of 60%. NSW came in last, with 54% of riders unhappy or very unhappy with the way the sport is being managed. Investment of your money was the biggest source of frustration across the survey responses with 80% feeling unhappy about the way their money is being invested.

The Board is disappointed but not surprised to hear that 40% of you don’t really know what MA does, and what it doesn’t do. And almost half don’t think it’s clear what your insurance premiums buy you. That’s something we will address immediately so look out for more coming on that.

Fees were a big one – more than half of you don’t feel your license fee and insurance contribution is good value for money and almost everyone thinks it would be better to have nationally consistent fees. We know the last thing anyone needs is to feel they’re not getting value for their money.  Great news is we have already been studying this but now more than ever it’s a priority to make it clear what you are paying for and giving best value possible to our members.

You can see more detailed survey results here. The Board’s next priority is a meeting with the MA Council and State Presidents on September 24th in Sydney where we’ll be discussing this survey among other things, and we will update you again after that.

Cheers,
The MA Board
