NEW SOUTH WALES GENERAL NEWS

NSW State Trial Championships

Posted 16th Sep, 2018 | Peter Arnold

The first day of the 2018 NSW State Trial Championships was held at Pacific Park today. Full results and stories of the day.

Kyle Middleton has taken the lead in Expert on the opening day of the NSW State Trial Championships with a lap 1 score of 6 and backing this up with a lap of just 3 on his return visit to the sections. Kevin Zarcynski follows behind on 41 points after his two laps.

In A Grade Luke Anderson leads Matthew Broderick 23 to 41. Luke had an amazing opening lap of 3 but got the wobbles on lap 2 to incur 20 points.

B Grade is being led by Jarad Boniface who cleaned the entire day with Andrew Trezise on 36 with Maverick Ford in third on 68 points.

Masters is turning into a battle with Martin O'Connor on 4 followed by Simon Van Baalen on 5 and Andrew Clements very much in the hunt on just 8 points. Let the mind games begin.

Jake Long and Jason Rigby are separated by just 1 point in C Grade 29 vs' 30. Closely followed by Ben Lynch and Lee Follington on 37 and 41 respectively.

Anthony Cummins is going well in Veterans 40-49 on 15 points holding a comfortable lead over Angus McIntyre.

The same cannot be said in Veterans 50-59 with seven riders below 15 points. Clean laps were recorded by the top 4 riders at times during the day with Rowan Gibson having incurred 2 dabs early in his second lap to finish the day on 2 followed by Tom Rafferty who started the day a bit shaky with a 3 and a 1 early on his first lap but then rode solidly to only incur a single dab to complete his day. Angus McDonald-Smith took penalties on his first 4 sections of the day followed by a clean second lap but on his third lap managed to collect a couple of points to take his tally to 8 for the day. Don Murray and Peter Wines are tied on 10 points but Peter trails Don on cleans so must extract the digit tomorrow if he is to step up.

Veterans 60+ is being headed by Greg Nordsvan on 5 points with Peter Curtis trailing him on 14 points. David Johnson rounds out the top three on 28 points.

Geraldine Vella and Elysia Owen are riding Junior Women with Geraldine on 14 points and Elysia on 38 points.

Junior 7 to under 13 has a strong field of 8 riders with William Hutchinson being super consistent on three single points, each one taken on section 7 for all three visits. Jackson Murray is following closely behind on 8 points with Thomas Horne rounding out the top 3 on 14 points and was the only Junior 7 to under 13 rider to clean section 7.

Lachlan Gibson is having a dominate ride in Post Classic on 17 points with Joe Henderson slightly adrift.

Clubperson is always a battle royal with tight battles between the best of friends. Paul McGrath took a dab on section 2 of lap 1 but then held his nerve for the remainder of the day to finish the day on just 1. Steve Bryant led after the first lap with a clean ride but section 7 attacked with a single point followed by section 11 taking another giving him to 2 points for the lap. He redeemed himself with a clean third lap but the damage was done and now sits in second on 2 points. Peter Ryder, Dale Spencer and Joshua Spencer trail the top 2 but are all within striking distance of the leading pair.

Day 1 results from the NSW State Trial Championships showing section by section scores for all riders are attached below.
