Australia’s men’s and women’s teams have finished 11th and ninth respectively in the 2024 Trial des Nations (TdN), played out in slippery conditions at Pobladura De Las Regueras in Spain on September 21-22.
At an event where all the defending champions retained their titles, the Aussie men’s team – TRRS-riding trio Jonathan Chellas, Connor Hogan and Chris Bayles – fought hard until the end in the International Trophy division.
They finished the two-lap 30-section TdN on 45pts, just 10 behind fifth-placed Andorra in what was a logjammed mid-table battle.
Japan (15pts) retained the International Trophy, just ahead of a fast-finishing America (16) and Germany (18).

On a challenging circuit that combined a mix of man-made sections, massive logs and natural hazards aplenty, it was a similar tale for the Australian’s women’s team of Jenna Lupo (TRRS), Kaitlyn Cummins (TRRS) and Lillie Yiatrou (Vertigo) as the men, remaining in ninth for the duration of the event.
Led by world champion Emma Bristow (Sherco), Great Britain was clinical in retaining the women’s trophy from Italy and Spain.
Finally – and predictably – the mighty Spanish men’s team of Toni Bou (Montesa), Gabriel Marcelli (Montesa) and Adam Raga (Sherco) swept to a record-breaking 20th consecutive TdN victory.
The Spaniards never looked seriously troubled, in what was emotional goodbye for the retiring 42-year-old, Raga. Italy and France completed the dais.
