GLENMAGGIE moto-trials star Tim Coleman is gearing-up for this year’s coveted Victorian Moto-Trials Championships at Sedgwick, just outside of Bendigo, this weekend, August 15-16.
Tim is primed to take on the state’s best riders for the coveted Expert title this weekend. “I rode pretty well at the Australian Moto-Trials Championships that took place at Sedgwick a couple of years ago. I finished second overall then so I’m hoping to replicate something similar,” Tim said.
Moto-trials is an exciting motorcycle sport that pits rider and motorbike against challenging natural terrain. Riders have to scale large rocks, boulders, logs and navigate tricky paths through the bush in order to secure valuable points over competitors.
Coleman will also compete in the upcoming Australian Moto-Trials Championships at Pacific Park, NSW on August 29-30. “Kyle Middleton, the current Australian champion will be there, as well as Colin Zarczynski. They’ll be the riders to beat,” he said.
He’ll also represent Australia at the 2015 FIM Trials des Nations at Tarragona, Spain in September.
Tim competed at last year’s Trials des Nations, also in Spain, where Australia finished fourth overall. “We just missed out on the podium by the Americans. Individually, I rode really well because the terrain was quite similar to what I ride here,” Tim said.
“European conditions are more suited to me because you don’t really get that sort of terrain – the lose and slippy hills of Gippsland – anywhere else,” he added.
Tim has also acted as a motorcycle stunt rider in the blockbuster film Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman. “It was a great experience. It was really cool chasing Hugh Jackman around on the rooftops of a Japanese village on a trials bike,” Tim added.
Tim would like to thank his sponsors Beta Racing Australia, Global Racing Oils, and Dreamers & Believers Apparel for all their help so far this season.
On the Victorian Moto-Trials Championships, Tim added: “I’ve been riding a lot and as long as everything goes well I’m hoping to win the Victorian Championships. They’re a lot of big rocks at Sedgwick but I seem to ride alright there,” Tim said.
