2016 Australian Trial des Nations team announced

Posted 1st Apr, 2016 | Matt Langtree

Motorcycling Australia (MA) is pleased to announce the 2016 Trial des Nations (TdN) team to represent Australia in Isola, France on September 10-11, 2016.

The team will consist of three male representatives and three female representatives.

The 2016 Australian Trial des Nations team is as follows:

Men’s Team
Christopher Bayles
Kyle Middleton
Connor Hogan

Women’s Team
Sofie Kraft
Sarah Chivers
Kristie McKinnon

Manager
Phil Whittle

Commenting on the announcement of the squad, Team Manager Phil Whittle said he was confident that the team selected could deliver an impressive result on the international stage.

“We started in 2011 in Italy, and competed in many events across Europe and this year we are in France,” he said.

“I am very proud to be the Australian Team Manager - we have had many big achievements, with our men’s team coming away with third in the International Trophy last year. And I am very proud of these young people who go over to Europe and represent Australia.

“For the men’s team I think top five is a realistic goal for us, and would dearly love to come home with another podium position.

“For the women’s team we have two new members. With Kristie leading the team, there is no doubt they will have a great experience and to be able to place in the top ten would be fantastic.

“The preparation has been a little bit different this year, we have had to take on a more hands on role, due to the lack of funding, but things are starting to come together and I can now formally talk to the team which is great.

“It’s a terrific event and for these competitors, they ride for themselves in Australia against each other, but as soon as they go over together, there is a sense of mate ship and they are so supportive of one another.” Phil concluded.
