VINE INN BAROSSA
2023 AUSTRALIAN TRIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
In some exciting 2023 news, the Vine Inn Barossa, Community Hotel, have signed on to be the naming rights partner for the 2023 Australian Trial Championships. This will be the 5th time that the Vine Inn Barossa has had the naming rights, continuing the legacy that started 20 years ago in 2002, which was continued through the 2007, 2011 and 2017 Championships, with the organising Keyneton Motorcycle Club more than excited to see this great partnership continue.
Says current Keyneton Motorcycle Club President, Mr Sean Heidenreich, “It’s really exciting and pleasing that we, as a sporting club, have been able to have a 20+ year relationship with the Vine Inn Barossa, and we thank them for their support and look forward to it continuing long into the future, as well as welcoming all of our trials visitors into ‘Billy Jacks at the Vine’ next year to enjoy their fantastic hospitality!”
To be held at Eden Valley over the weekend of September 30 and October 1 2023, the Keyneton MCC, and the Trials South Australia community, are looking forward to welcoming and hosting riders, and their families and supporters, from all states of Australia, and perhaps even from New Zealand as well.
This stand-alone Championship will feature 18 Championship classes, and will cater for all level of rider, from the age of 7 years, right through to riders in their 70’s, and will feature 4 Senior Solo Classes, 6 Junior Classes (3 boys, 3 girls), Open Women & Open Sidecar, as well as Youth (U/19 years) and 5 aged classes, 3 for rider age and 3 for machine age!
Chasing the Australia #1 mantle, riders in the Trial 1 Class, which will feature many former and current Australian representatives, will have the current Australia #1, NSW’s Kyle Middleton with a target on his back, as he looks to extend his already incredible record with a 9th consecutive Championship win, to more than cement his status as Australia’s finest ever Trial rider.
The Keyneton MCC are expecting a field of 150+ riders to be chasing an Australian Championship, as well as those who ride in the support classes – and it is more than likely that 40+ riders and passengers from South Australia will enter the Championships, giving it very much a ‘home grown’ flavour, with many of the SA riders more than a chance to challenge for a Championship!
The Open Sidecar Championship will be a huge highlight in 2023, as it will be the 50th Australian Championship held for the guys and girls on 3 wheels – and if you think Trial can be tough on 2 wheels, then you really do need to come along and see what can be achieved on 3!
The Keyneton MCC will be offering a number of Support Classes, including one for Sidecars to help celebrate the 50th Championship, but also the ‘crowd favourite’ that was first run at the 2017 Championships – Mini Trial – for riders aged 4 to U/9 Years, on small-wheeled machines and more than showing that Trial is a great way to get into the sport!
The Championships will be the feature event of Trials Week SA 2023, with the week kicking off with the AMX Superstores 2023 South Australian Trial Championships, being held at Tungkillo on September 23 & 24 by the AJS MTC, and a mid-week event, on Wednesday September 27, the ‘Mid-week to the X-Treme Trial’, being hosted by the Juventus MCC at Mount Pleasant.
