Betamotor has released first details of the new 2016 Beta range. For 2016, the Florentine engineers have focused attention on the engines. For the first time, each engine capacity has been developed differently. The 300, 250, 200 and 125 2T engines have all received so much development that they are really new engines.
As always at Beta, development is never intended purely for power and performance, but rather the aim is to always guarantee USABILITY and RIDEABILITY. According to Francesco Tozzi, the Beta R&D engineer "this is why we especially aimed to offer rounder and greater torque at low speeds, and thereby increase inertia and centring of the mass. These are crucial values for improving Trial riding performance."
300cc engine
New engine crankpin for greater rigidity thereby increasing inertia and centring of mass to provide better balance.
New connecting rod for improved inertia and rigidity.
New silencer with redesigned internals for considerably greater torque at low to medium speeds as well as being quieter.
New combustion chamber with redesigned squish angle to improve engine response and output.
250cc engine
New engine crankpin for greater rigidity thereby increasing inertia and centring of mass to provide better balance.
New connecting rod for improved inertia and rigidity.
New silencer with redesigned internals for considerably greater torque at low to medium speeds as well as being quieter.
Completely redeveloped head thanks to a new design for intake and exhaust ports thus making the bike one of the easiest on the market to ride.
A new combustion chamber with reduced squish height and geometry to compliment the new porting and port timing.
200cc engine
The engine is now based on the 250/300 rather than a development of the 125 engine.
New crankcases derived from the 250/300 engine.
New crankshaft with lighter dedicated flywheel. This gives a better distribution of crank weight, with more centred mass and improved inertia. The most striking result is considerable improvement in handling.
New connecting rod with improved rigidity providing greatly reduced engine vibration.
A new lighter piston.
Increased crankcase compression.
125cc engine
This has always been the rookie engine size for young Beta riders on which Marco Fioletti has won the 2015 125 World Championship. Power and rideability are greatly improved due to
Redeveloped engine crankshaft for improved inertia.
New connecting rod, shorter to increase compression in the crankcases so achieving better low end performance.
The cylinder porting has been redeveloped to match the improved engine torque.
Frame changes to all models including the 4T.
The Sachs rear shock features new valving to improve the rebound feel which allows the rear shock to work better in conjunction with the front fork.
