Round 3 of the New South Wales Moto Trials Championships was held at Pacific Park Waterski Gardens on Sunday the 22nd of May 2011. Host Club, Manly Warringah Motorcycle Club, set a challenging course, which followed the main ridge of the property that overlooks the Hawkesbury River. Great weather of a sunny 23 degrees made the riders comfortable as they tackled the 10 sections which consisted of a loose rocky hillside with oddly shaped large sandstone rocks and plenty of undercut ledges.
The expert field had their work cut out for them with 9 out of the 10 sections containing large 3rd gear rock steps. Each of the 5 Expert entrants had no choice but to use catchers in most sections. The course gradually got easier as the day progressed with ruts forming and the ground surface stabilizing.
Kyle Middleton (Gas Gas) lead the field from start to finish with some great rides which gave him an overall score of 42 and the best lap score of the day of 6 points.
Kevin Zarczynski (Motorex Fox OSSA) secured second position after a nasty crash on section 4. This crash saw Kevin tumble down the dusty hillside and due to the sections being so close together, his crash finished in another section but luckily the other section was empty. Kevin finished on 59 points.
Colin Zarczynski (Dunlop OSSA) finished out another disappointing event and was only able to secure third place from fourth place Michael Byrne and fifth, Luigi Garzon. Colin started the day full of confidence, but this was crushed with clutch problems causing him to struggled on each large step, and had no choice but to spend a considerable amount of time changing out his clutch plates. During his first lap, Colin’s handlebars struck him in the chest and it was later confirmed he had cracked a rib. Colin finished the day on 76 points.
