Coonabarabran MC club held its second trial of the century at the Whitegums property on the edge of town which, hopefully will become a permanent venue with picnic area and toilets in the future. We continue to attract 'stars' from afar, this time Cameron and Brendan Scott, who usually ride SQTA events, plus ross Brown ventured south and Kevin Sheridan came north, to join the growing band of local riders. Some of the sections looked a bit daunting at first, being steep climbs or sharp drops. Every one was cleaned at least once, vindicating the decision to set them. Brendan took out B grade with a loss of 25, and some superb rides, followed by local, Jason Newton, on 51 in only his second event, and Rob Williams rounded out the podium. Ross Brown continues to show the more modern bikes, and riders, the way to do it on the ageing Bultaco, losing just 9 for the day in C grade. He just makes it look effortless. Cameron Scott was second on 30 and Kevin racked up 50 for third. Peter Brocklehurst, aka me, was the best clubman. Thanks to Cam for his generous gift of chocolates and eggs for the observers, which was most appreciated. The next event will be at the same venue on 29 May, details later.
