Sunny Stanthorpe puts on a brilliant day for Trials competition on day 1 of the 2016 Lucas oils Logan Glass Australian Trials Championships. At the top end in Open Solo, Kyle Middleton (Gas Gas 300/NSW) commands a lead with a clean score sheet and Chris Bayles (Gas Gas 300/TAS) follows him on 13 points. Colin Zarczynski (Vertigo 300/NSW) and Neil Price (Beta 300/WA) are next up on 25 and 26 points respectively.
Competitors have to complete 3 laps of 12 sections over Granite rocks, logs and the finest Trials terrain in the Southern Downs region. Mayor of the region, Tracy Dobie, welcomed the competitors at the riders briefing, had a tour of the sections and was pleased to see a national event like this in the region.
The Trial des Nations team thanked the Australian trials community and presented Team Manager Phil Whittle with a plaque recognising the time, money and passion he has has poured into supporting our Aussie riding team this year.
Motorcycling Queensland have had a great presence at the event, promoting motorcycle sport and the many disciplines that the state controlling body cover.
Competitors on day 2 will again have 3 laps of 12, with all new sections. The sections have been set challenging enought that all competitors (except Open Solo) have dropped points on the score board.
