All ladies....., we are pleased to officially welcome you to the 2011 Australian FIM Womens Training Camp, which will be held Saturday 16th July through Monday 18th July, at Pacific Park Ski Gardens near Sydney.
All men,...... the camp is for women riders and their coaches, trainers and direct supporters. All men who come along with be taken to be volunteers and assistants, and put to work catching, pushing and mechanic-ing in support of womens trial. We suggest men riders join the fantastic Wollongong MCC club trial at Kiama on Sunday, and allows the girls to train.
The camp will follow the FIM guidelines for womens camp, which we will try to follow as closely as practical, with the input of our coaches. Our FIM appointed coach will be Laia Sanz, from Spain, the current and 10 times world womens trial champion.
The camp will start at 0900 Saturday morning, with a short welcome, and introduction to our coaches. We will have a group photo of all the women together, then break into groups for the training.
There will be no "riding demonstration" for the entertainment of the public etc by our guest coach, the camp is to promote and benefit womens trial, not put on a show. It is a FIM training camp, not a "Laia Sanz" riding show.
For members of the public wishing to meet Laia, we will have a brief autograph session on Saturday morning after the opening introduction and group photo, where Laia will sign autographs etc for members of the public, while all the girls get their bikes and have a little warm up. This will give the public some access to Laia. After this autograph session, we ask that the public does not come into the training area, there should be no distractions for the camp participants during the training.
Participants will be gathered into groups with riders of similar riding level, and the coaches will rotate amongst the groups during each day. This allows all riders to have one-on-one contact with our FIM coach, and to gain input from a range of coaches during each day. We will have both female and males coaches, as well as extra assistants who will help with catching and repairs as required. (If there is one coach whose style does not match yours, you don't have to be stuck with them for ages, just for one session.)
The camp promotes both training and social interaction as vital to the enjoyment of trial, so we have as many group actions as possible throughout the camp. This will include everyone breaking for lunch together, so we can all eat, relax and discuss the progress of the camp as we go along.
Saturday evening we will have a group activity after dinner and showers, then Sunday we will return to group training, again breaking for lunch together, through to the evening. Sunday night we will have a group function.
Monday we will have group training, breaking again for lunch as a group, riding again in the afternoon until the end of the camp at 4pm. There is no group evening activity planned for Monday night, as participants will begin travelling at the end of the camp.
The camp is open to all women riders. Parents and family are welcome. Fathers or the riders coach are welcome to assist with the coaching, to watch how the coaches help the riders, to learn how to coach etc, with the aim of being able to help the riders continue to improve after the camp is over.
We ask that men and boys who are coming with you ride away from the training, the venue is huge and there are plenty of great areas to ride which will not be used in the camp.
Following the massive success of the Sherco Womens Cup in Canberra this past weekend, we look forward to greeting all women and girls interested in trial at the Australian 2011 FIM Womens Trials Training Camp.
Best regards,
Kevin Zarczynski,
Camp Co-ordinator
