On Saturday 26th and Sunday the 27th of November South Australia hosted a Jordi Pascuet trials school at Eden Valley. The school was open to all ages and abilities. Connor Hogan sent in this report.
On the first day Jordi split us into 3 groups. There were the Juniors, the intermediate group of clubmen/C grade/enduro and the top group of B grade and above. He worked with the Juniors on their balance for 40 - 50 minutes before getting the intermediate group and taking them to practice bike control. With the top group which was the group I was in, he told us how to hop the front wheel both with engine on and off. He then took us to a little rock to practice our floating turns with Jordi giving a demo on everything which was helping a lot.
After lunch Jordi demonstrated 3 different ways to get up a rock step. The 1st technique was the light tap with the front wheel, 2nd was the punch then bunny hop, 3rd was the SPLAT! which is was not hitting the front wheel on the rock and getting the back wheel to hit the top.
The next day we started off by doing exercises to warm up before he demonstrated how to do nose-wheelies then we split into the 3 groups. My group stayed with Jordi first off by practising the nose wheelies. He then went over to the Juniors and made a section for them to stop at the start, balance, then ride the rest. After all that we followed Jordi to a hill climb with an easy route and a hard route. I first went with the easy route to see how steep it was then tried the hard route which was fun to do.
Everyone then went and had lunch.
Jordi then set a section for the intermediate class with some drop offs.
At the end Jordi did a brilliant demo of lots of trick riding, all in all a FANTASTIC finish to the weekend. A hell of a lot of fun and brilliant learning curb for younger kids.
Thanks very much to all of the South Australian Coaches for helping out on both days, Paul Arnott for organising to get Jordi over to Australia and to Motorcycling SA for providing such a fantastic opportunity to South Australian riders.
