Ossa claimed a fine 5th place on debut in outright solo with rider Kevin Zarczynski at the 2011 Vine Inn Barossa Australian Trial Championships, over the 2-3rd October. The revolutionary TR280i fuel injected reverse cylinder two-stroke matched it the 2011 world championship result of 5th place, and injected an exciting new machine into the world of trial competition in its first season.
In brilliant sunny conditions, the Ossa proved reliable and strong, showing this technologically advanced new machine is capable of running at the top of the outright field.
Sunday’s opening day saw Kevin Zar finish in 5th place, with a stronger second lap, the competition being the first day of running the all new bike on grass and open rock terrain. “I made too many mistakes on the first day,” offered the experiencedSydney based rider, “like not being sure exactly which gear to use on some of the larger climbs, because the bike is so new I’ve not had a chance to try it in every type of section”.
Monday’s second day featured slightly harder sections, which were a good test for the new bike, a mixture of steep climbs and some large jumps proving the Ossa capable overall any terrain. After a poor opening lap, Kevin finally got it together with the green machine to post a great final lap, and maintain 5th place overall.
“The bike has been good all weekend” explained Kevin at the end of the event. “I had been aiming to finish on the podium, and that looked possible after the first day. Then today I was hesitant in a few places on the opening lap, and blew my chances of challenging the leaders. Pulling it all together for the final circuit was a great way to finish the event, and leaves me anxious for next year to continue improving with the bike.”
Team Kevin Zarczynski Ossa TR280i wish to thank 2011 sponsors Fox, Dunlop, Gaerne, Renthal, Motorex and Ossa Australia for a fantasic year, as they prepare for the 2012 trial season.
