Gas Gas Mal - what do you reckon! I had a great relationship with Mal and Jill Loone and this is what Mal yelled when I won the Aussies 7-12's last year.
And thanks to Paul Arnott the new owner of Gas Gas Motos and The Hell Team, and a fair bit of hard work over my holidays to raise a bit of cash, I’ll be on a 2010 this year.
Here's an article on my preparation......somewhere
Last night Dad, Tom and I went for a drive to Brisbane and living in Esk that doesn’t happen very often. We were going to get my new Gas Gas from Jack Fields place.
It all happened after Kal Dailey at K.D mototrials asked me if I would be getting a new bike for 2010. I said “not likely unless I get some sponsorship” and he said “I’ll do what I can”. A few days later he called Dad and said he had talked to Paul Arnott at The Hell Team (the new owner of Gas Gas Motos Australia, and that Paul had offered me some sponsorship so we pretty much took it.
We arrived at Jacks place in the evening and we had a bit of a chat to Jack, who now rides a Gas Gas in his show. Then we went around the back and grabbed the bike and put it on the trailer, had a bit more of a chat about the changes and new looks and then left Jacks place. We got back to Esk late and I put the bike to bed in the shed. (But I didn’t sleep that night.)
After school mum had a meeting so we didn’t leave there early (sigh). We eventually left school and got home…..late again. Dad and I played with the suspension for a bit but we didn’t get it right just yet (I think I need some more preload on the front), then I had a short ride to see how I liked the gearing. The stock cogs were not right so I put a nine tooth front cog and a forty-eight tooth back cog on. Then we put lock tight on all of the bolts on the cog and disk rotor, and we repacked the rear bearings and linkages with water proof grease and put it back together. I had a ride (the lights are cool for night riding) and it was almost perfect except for the suspension which I will finish tomorrow night. I’ll also lock-tight and grease the front end tomorrow, have a look at the headset bearings and grease them too. I’ll try and do an update tomorrow.
Thanks to Paul and crew at The Hell Team and Gas Gas Motos, and a special thanks to Jack Field for bringing my bike up from Sydney.
